"was further away from the Las Ramblas"
Gran Hotel Catalonia was further away from the Las Ramblas, this was not a problem because it was only a 25 minute walk.
The hotel in its self was nice and very clean, the rooms were on the small side but both the room and bathroom was nice.
The breakfast was lovely, lots of pastries, cheeses etc, they even had chocolate cake if you can stomach it at that time in a morning!

"Nice / clean hotel"
My partner and I where relocated to this hotel from the Catalonia Princessa because of flooding.
Whilst this hotel was further away from the Las Ramblas, this was not a problem because it was only a 25 minute walk (lots of posh shops on the way) and there is a metro station right outside the hotel.
The hotel in its self was nice and very clean, the rooms were on the small side but both the room and bathroom was nice. Even though we had an interior room, it was very noisy and not very well insulated.
The breakfast was lovely, lots of pastries, cheeses etc, they even had chocolate cake if you can stomach it at that time in a morning! Not much choice if you like a cooked breakfast though but this may have been because it was 10.00 am and the breakfast finishes at 10.30 am.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, and all in all a nice hotel.
This hotel is right next to the Diagonal so is ideal if you are a shopaholic and don't mind using the metro!
